After two episodes, the initial reactions for Skeleton Crew are in!
Critics’ Reviews: So far, critics have had a great reception of Skeleton Crew, giving it an initial rating of 95% on Rotten Tomatoes.
This very high score from the critics is the second-highest initial score for a Star Wars television show. Andor holds first place.
Many critics — and fans alike — have noted the extremely impressive acting of the younger actors in the show. Their contributions to the show's overall feel and their characters' believability are very impressive and extremely appreciated!
Overall, the critics’ reviews of Skeleton Crew are positive in a way that Star Wars shows have not often seen, and that is a huge indicator that we are truly in for a treat with this one.
The Youtini Review: Eric’s full review is available now on Youtini, but keep in mind that his thoughts include spoilers for the first two episodes. Here's a spoiler-free look at the highlights!
A resounding point many fans are making — Eric included — is that the feel of Skeleton Crew is incredibly spot-on for the 80s vibe that the show creators were going for.
There will always be something magical about capturing a child's sense of wonder and adventure. Outside of our own nostalgia, that is not often a feeling we get from Star Wars, but Skeleton Crew truly exudes that sense of awe so far.
Setting itself apart from other Star Wars shows, the pacing of Skeleton Crew is impeccable so far — no fluff, no lag, just genuinely enjoyable television.
We're all fine here now — how are you? We’ll keep you updated on the reviews of Skeleton Crew, and we would also love to hear how you feel after those first two episodes. Let us know!

Updates on Mandalorian and Grogu and Ahsoka Season 2

As we enter the final months of 2024, we are SO excited to learn more about not one, or two but three future Star Wars projects! The news is the perfect early Christmas present for all Youtinians!
The Mandalorian and Grogu
Star Wars’ Chief Creative Officer, Dave Filoni, was interviewed by Extra at the Disney premiere of Star Wars: Skeleton Crew.
He was happy to update us on the eagerly awaited final installment of our favorite Mando & Son.
He stated, “John (Favreau) and I had a great time working on that, as we always do. It was great seeing Grogu, you know, he’s become such a star, and it’s amazing how it’s evolved what we can do now with the puppetry compared to Season 1 ... What a wonderful little creation Grogu is”.
The film debuts on May 22, 2026, but you can join the conversation now in #sw-movies!
Ahsoka Season 2
That's not all; Filoni also had updates about the next season of Ahsoka, stating that he's "pretty happy" with progress so far.
He says he's "well into that (writing) as well ... I’m still the single writer on it. So, I’m enjoying doing that, but it’s a challenge, of course. Working some of these arcs through has been a challenge”.
Meanwhile, Indiewire reports that production and filming of the new season will take place in the UK, a move away from Season 1, which was filmed in LA. This time, the show will also use different filming techniques instead of relying exclusively on The Volume as in Season 1.

Dawn of the Jedi Movie
Our friends at Deadline had an opportunity to speak to director James Mangold about his upcoming Bob Dylan biopic, A Complete Unknown. They also briefly discussed his upcoming venture in the Star Wars universe, and Mangold dropped a couple of pearls for us.
At Star Wars Celebration Europe in 2023, Lucasfilm announced that James Mangold would direct a Star Wars film about the origins of the Jedi
There is no official title for the film yet, but many fans have borrowed the title Dawn of the Jedi from a Legends novel and comic series.
In the interview, Mangold says: My partner (Beau Willimon) and I have been writing it. I don’t know what’s next because we haven’t gotten to the end of that process … we’re trying to finish a draft.”
This is great news for the fandom at large, as a draft is a step closer to a final script and the start of filming. Jump onto #sw-news or #sw-movies on Discord and share your excitement!
We’re all fine here now - how are you? These good times keep rolling on with Star Wars projects. Hopefully, Star Wars Celebration Japan will feature more teasers and updates regarding all of Lucasfilm's projects! Youtini has it all covered, and you can join the conversation in Discord NOW!
