New Novel Featuring Our Favorite Clones From The Bad Batch!

The Batch is back in a brand new Star Wars novel!

The Novel: Star Wars announced last week that a new novel featuring Hunter, Wrecker, Tech, and Omega is coming later this year. Sanctuary: A Bad Batch Novel by Lamar Giles will hit bookstore shelves on August 5th!

  • This new story is a classic Bad Batch tale of running from the Empire while trying to do right by your family. You can read the official synopsis here.

  • The book takes place during the second season of The Bad Batch. It will feature several characters that the show’s fans will find familiar.

  • It has been almost a year since the show’s end, so knowing that this story takes place in the middle of the arcs we’ve already seen is incredibly comforting.

Getting Ready: We have several months to prepare for this book, and we highly recommend that you watch The Bad Batch if you haven’t yet.

  • The show ran for three seasons and ended on a very hopeful note. We have suspected for a while now that these characters’ stories might move into the realm of books, and we hope this is the first of many.

  • While this is Giles’ first Star Wars novel, he has embraced the galaxy far, far away as a central part of his life for as long as he can remember. The Bad Batch is only a small part of that galaxy, but it is so worth any fan’s time.

  • Outside of watching — or rewatching — The Bad Batch, we recommend you also take some time to read Giles’ other contribution to Star Wars publishing so far: his short story “Twenty and Out,” which appeared in From a Certain Point of View: Return of the Jedi.

We're all fine here now — how are you? While we wait for Sanctuary: A Bad Batch Novel, check out what the guys over in Bounty Hunt thought of each episode of the show!

The Youtiniees aren’t the only awards in the news this week! The Saturn Awards took place on Sunday, February 2, and Star Wars earned several nominations and wins for its amazing 2024 releases. This is a big deal, my friends!

About the Saturn Awards:

  • Dr. Donald A Reed (1935-2001) founded the awards for “honoring, recognizing and promoting genre entertainment” in science fiction and horror.

  • The Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Horror Films, established in 1972, presents the awards to recognize “the fine talent who work in the most imaginative and creative fields of entertainment.”

  • The Saturn Awards include 39 categories. For US$40, you too can become a Level A Affiliate Member, which includes voting privileges!

Star Wars at the Saturn Awards: Our favorite franchise earned recognition in several categories:

  • Star Wars: The Bad Batch won Best Animated Television Series or Special for the 3rd year in a row, meaning that each season has won the prestigious award. It beat out Batman, Gremlins, Kaiju No.8, Star Trek, and X-Men ‘97. Not bad!

  • Ahsoka earned a nomination in the Best Science Fiction Television Series category.

  • Rosario Dawson won Best Actress in a Television Series for her role as Ahsoka Tano! In a crowded field, she beat the likes of Emma D’Arcy, Jodie Foster, Danai Gurira, Kathryn Hahn, Melissa McBride, and Ella Purnell.

  • Star Wars: Andor The Complete First Season won Best Television Home Media Release, beating Columbo, Farscape, Interview with the Vampire, La Brea, and The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet.

And our favorite Jedi Master (and now Force Ghost), Mark Hamill, was also recognized as Best Guest Star in a Television Series for his role as Arthur Gordon Pym in The Fall of the House of Usher.

Star Wars Rules: Our awesome Lucas-inspired galaxy has had considerable success over the years at The Saturn Awards:

  • Past winners include Christopher Lee, J.J. Abrams, Mark Hamill (also an Emcee), Harrison Ford, Moses Ingram, and Ming-Na Wen.

  • Films have also been recognized with awards, including A New HopeThe Empire Strikes BackReturn of the JediRevenge of the SithThe Force AwakensRogue One, and The Rise of Skywalker, all winning the Best Science Fiction Film category in their respective year!
